The Lakeland Lakers continued to battle in South Carolina in a DH that saw them match up against Catholic University JV and Salem Community College.  In game one against Catholic University, Mike Zeuli continued his hot hitting as he went 2-4 including a double and 2 RBI's. Bryan Case also added a double for the Lakers and scored a run. Justin Demassimo pitched 4 innings and allowed 5 runs on 5 hits; however only 1 of those runs were earned. In game two against Salem CC, it looked like the Lakers were finally going to break through with a victory. Zeulis agains was pacing the Lakers as he added another hit and 3 more RBI's. Osvoldo Balbueno added  a 2-run HR and Seth Higham had 3 hits and scored 3 runs. In this game, Lakeland held a 14-11 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th before they gave up 5 runs for the loss. Salem ended the game on a walk off grand slam against Kevin Spehar. In both games, the Lakers defense made critical errors which contributed to the loss.

Krause's Quips: "In both games today, we had every opportunity to win. We played hard and are starting to see some more consistent play. We need to continue to improve both defensively and on the mound. We are just making too many mistakes right now. On the bright side, we swung the bats well in both games today. We will continue to work and get better...off day tomorrow and then we'll get back at it on Friday."

Next up: The Lakers are currently scheduled to play Friday at noon against PSU Mont Alto and then at 3pm vs Bergen CC at the Ripken Experience. On Saturday, Lakeland plays at 9 am game against PSU Hazelton before wrapping their trip up with a noon start against North Central Missouri.
