Lakers baseball falls to Eagles in Game 1; game 2 halted after 6

The Lakeland men's baseball team is trying to play games. In an effort to get some games in, the team switched to play an away game (was scheduled to be home originally) and traveled to Springfield, OH today to take on the Clark State Eagles. Due to poor field conditions from last night's rain, the site of the game changed again when they were half-way to the park. They re-routed and then took the field after an extended trip. Unfortunately for the Lakers, after all of these changes, they struggled in game 1 and dropped a 7-0 decision to the Eagles. Their record now stands at 6-11 (3-4). There was not much of an offense today as they managed just two hits in the game. Ben Sterritt and Malakai Roberts both went 1-2 with a walk in the defeat. On the mound, Adam Letson took the hard-luck loss. In two innings of work, Letson allowed 3 hits and struck out 5 batters. He also gave up 5 runs - however - none were earned as the Lakers did not play solid defense behind him. Tyler Kelly relieved and pitched 4 innings allowing 2 earned runs.

Game 2 was started and halted after 6 innings with the score tied at 3. This game will be completed when the Eagles travel to Lakeland to play a doubleheader. That date, due to weather, has yet to be determined.

Next Up: The Lakers are scheduled to travel to Hocking College on Friday (4/15) for a doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm. Weather permitting, they are slated to host Hocking on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
