Lakers sweep season series from Hawks

The Lakers baseball team continues to roll as they traveled to Hocking College today for the second half of the season series. The Lakers won two exciting games by the scores of 11-10 and 12-8. Game 1 was a back and forth affair that came down to the wire. The Lakers started by scoring 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning. Alarik Sierra hit a leadoff single before Jose Fichera reached on an error. Rafael Nakandakari followed with an RBI-single by scoring Sierra. Later in the inning, Esetvan Ruiz would knock Fichera in with a fielder's choice.  The Hawks would counter with single runs in the 1st and 2nd innings to tie the score until the 4th inning. The Lakers would regain the lead by scoring 4 runs in the top of the 4th inning. Ray Cowen and Alarik Sierra set the table by hitting singles for the Lakers. Seth Cervello followed with a 2-RBI double before Jose Fichera hit a 2-run home run to give the Lakers a 6-2 lead. The Hawks would take advantage of 2 errors and a hit batter to score 3 runs and make the score 6-5 in favor of the Lakers after 4 innings. In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Hawks would take advantage of a Laker error to score 2 runs and take a 7-6 lead. Lakeland responded immediately in the top of the 6th inning by scoring 3 runs and taking the lead back at 9-7. Andhris Martinez hit a 1-out single before Sierra doubled. Seth Cervello followed with a 3-run blast.The Hawks answered back in the home half of the 6th scoring 2 runs to tie the game at 9 after 6 innings. Estevan Ruiz led off the top of the 7th inning and then Brayden Fellouzis followed with a 2-run homer and an 11-9 Laker lead. Jhonuel Dimas came on to secure the win for the Lakers. A lead-off double would eventually score on a balk. With 2-outs and the tying run on 2nd base, Dimas struck out the last batter to secure the win.

Seth Cervello went 2-3 (2B, HR) with 5 RBI's while Brayden Fellouzis and Jose Fichera both homered and had 2 RBI's. Alarik Sierra went 3-4 (2B) while Ray Cowen went 2-4. Estevan Ruiz and Rafael Nakandakari bith had a hit and RBI while Andhris Martinez added a hit in the Laker win. Lucas Nichols started and went 3 innings allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 4 hits while striking out 3 batters. Aiden Limtury got the win pitching 3 innings and allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits. Jhonuel Dimas earned the save allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run.

Game 2 also turned out to be a wild game that went the Lakers way. Lakeland got off to a strong start scoring 5 runs in the 1st inning. Alarik Sierra started the inning by reaching on an error. Seth Cervello would single allowing Sierra to go to 3rd base. Sierra would then score on a wild pitch. After a Rafael Nakandakari walk, Estevan Ruiz hit an RBI-single. Connor Wilt was then hit by a pitch and Brayden Fellouzis followed with an RBI-single. Andhris Martinez would then plate 2 more runs with a single to give the Lakers an early 5-0 lead. The Hawks answered back in the home half scoring 3 runs. Lakeland tacked on another run in the top of the 2nd inning to increase their lead to 6-3. Seth Cervello hit a leadoff single and later scored on an RBI-double from Jose Fichera. The Hawks continued to battle though as they scored 2 runs in the second and another in the 3rd to tiwe the game at 6 after 3 innings. Both teams would score a pair of runs in the 5th inning to keep the game ties at 8. Lakeland then exploded for 4 runs in the top of the 6th inning to sail to the victory, In the 6th, Estevan Ruiz was hit by a pitch, Connor Wilt walked, and Brayden Fellouzis was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Ray Cowen followed with a 2 RBI-single. Andhris Martinez was then hit by a pitch to reload the bases. Alarik Sierra then picked up an RBI by working a walk before Seth Cervello knocked in anothe run with a sac fly.

Brayden Fellouzis went 3-4 with an RBI while Seth Cervello went 2-3 with an RBI. Ray Cowen and Andhris Martinez both had a hit and 2 RBI's while Estevan Ruiz had a hit and RBI. Jose Fichera (2B), Rafael Nakandakari, and Alarik Sierra each chipped in a hit in the Laker win. Zach Sullivan started and pitched 4.2 innings scattering 8 hits and allowing 8 runs (5 earned) while striking out 2 batters. Julien Bourgeois relieved and picked up the win pitching 2.1 innings and striking out 3 batters. 

Next Up: The Lakers will play host to the Cuyahoga Triceratops tomorrow (4/28) at Laker Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
