Baseball swept by Triceratops

Baseball swept by Triceratops

It was a tough day for the blue and silver as they played host to the Cuyahoga Triceratops today. It was one of those days where nothing went right for the home team and it snowballed from there as the Lakers fell by the scores of 32-0 and 15-2. In game one it was over early as Tri-C scored 11 runs in the first inning. The first 5 runs were scored on just 1 hit as the Triceratops took advantage of 2 walks, 2 hit batters, and an error. In total in the first ining, Tri-C scored their 11 runs on 4 total hits. Offensively, it wasn't much better as the Lakers were no-hit over 5 innings and recorded 10 strikeouts in their 15 outs. Ethan Duncan took the tough luck loss on the mound.

Game 2 started the same way as the visitors scored 5 runs on just 2 hits as they took advantage of a walk and 3 Lakeland errors. The Lakers showed some life in the home half of the inning as they scored 2 runs. Ray Cowen had a 2-out single before Wilfredo Ortiz ripped a 2-run home run. Unfortunately for the Lakers, that would be all that they put together offensively as they dropped the nightcap. Offensively, Ortiz went 3-3 with 2 RBI's while Cowen, Miguel Fuentes, and Nicholas Square each added a hit. Adam Salesky took the loss on the mound.

Next Up: The Lakers will look to rebound when they travel to the Lorain County Commodores on Friday (4/4). These games are considered non-league and so will not count toward the conference standings. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 am. On Saturday (4/5), the Lakers will host the Commodores in OCCAC action. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
