The Lakeland men's basketball team dropped a 100-91 decision to the Commodores of Lorain County last night. The Lakers were paced by Trevon Grangers 30 points and Jeff Nevulis' 22 points and 13 rebounds. Jarred Schultz played a key role for Lorain as he scored 23 points off the bench.

This game literally was the tale of two halves as Lorain outscored the Lakers 56-39 in the first half while the Lakers returned the favor in the second half finishing with a 52-42 edge. Lorain County led throughout the game typically by single digits. However, throughout the second half, the Lakers continued to battle and pulled within 6 with just under two minutes to play and possession of the ball. Unfortunately a missed shot followed by a Lorain bucket put the commodores in position to ice the game by hitting their free throws down the stretch. A key issue for the Lakers was shooting just 9 of 29 from beyond the arc while their opponents shot 10 of 18 during the game.

The Lakers are back at it this weekend as they play host to the Cincinnati State Surge Saturday. Tip off for the men is scheduled for 3 p.m.
