Lakers fall at Express

The Lakers men's basketball team lost a hard fought decision to the Owens Community College Express Wednesday night, 103-89. It was another tough start for the Lakers as they fell behind 16-0 to start the game. The Lakers finally broke thru on scoring, but the damage had been done and they finished the half down 25 points, 59-34. Lakeland did not quit in the second half though. They continued to battle and won the second half 55-44; nonetheless, they were unable to come close to taking the lead. Despite the slow start, Lakeland had four players finish in double figures. Freshman Jeramie Burge led all players in scoring on the night with 35 points. He also added 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Da'ron Falkner (20 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists), Crysjawn Waters (21 points, 4 rebounds), and Louis Wisnyai (10 points and 5 rebounds) also played strong games in the defeat. Freshman Justin Cooper also had a strong night on the boards as he finished with 9 rebounds. 

The Lakers will travel to Cincinnati State Saturday, Feb. 25, in a 3 p.m. match-up. The final game of the season is scheduled for Saturday, March 4, as the Lakers will play host to the Challengers of Cuyahoga Community College. The tip is scheduled for 3 p.m. Admission is free to the game.
