Lakeland’s John Dawson wins OCCAC Division II Player of the Week award

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The 2018-19 OCCAC D-II regular season comes to an end with two familiar faces as the league's Basketball Players of the Week. Amanda Schroeder (Sinclair) snagged her fourth weekly honor this season (ninth career) and John Dawson (Lakeland) won the men's award for the second time (also on Dec. 3).

Dawson registered a 34-point, 10-rebound double-double in the Lakers 92-79 road win at Sinclair. He knocked down half (12-24) of his field goals, half (7-14) from beyond the arc while hitting all three foul shots. Dawson added four assists and two steals while logging 39 minutes.

Dawson is averaging 16 points and 5.5 rebounds per game throughout the regular season.

Dawson and Lakeland will next play in the NJCAA Region XII Division II District 11 Tournament on Friday, March 8 against Edison State Community College at 7 p.m. at Ohio Christian University in Circleville.
