Four Lakeland men’s basketball players earn conference honors

Lakeland men's basketball had four players named to the OCCAC postseason honors for the 2018-19 season.

John Dawson was named first team All-OCCAC and to the all-freshman team while also being named to the All-District 11 team. Tyreke John and Rob Brown each earned honorable mention OCCAC. Chandler Fointno also earned honorable mention OCCAC and was named to the OCCAC all-defensive team.

Dawson was second on the team with 15.8 points and 4.4 assistant per game during the season. Johnson was the scoring leader with 16.1 points while adding 5.9 rebounds per game. Rob Brown was third on the team with 12.5 points per game and added 5.8 rebounds per game.

Fointno, who was named the District 11 tournament most valuable player, averaged 9.8 points, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game during the season.

Lakeland will next play in the Division II National Tournament in Danville, Ill. next week in a game to be decided later after the bracket is released.
