Lakers men's basketball falls to Saints
The Lakeland men's basketball team traveled to Erie, PA to take on the Saints from Mercyhurst NE on Tuesday night. Unfortunately for Lakeland, they were not able to withstand a late charge from the Saints as they dropped an 87-82 decision. The Lakers record now stands at 1-1 on the season. Lakeland jumped out early on Mercyhurst NE and led for 38 minutes of the contest. The Laker's shot 47.2% in the first and led by 9 at the break, 46-37. Lakeland continued to roll early in the second half and led by as many as 14 with 14 minutes to play.  The Saints kept battling though and took their first lead of the game with just under 2 minutes to play.  Lakeland could not overcome the momentum change. Free throws were a challenge for Lakeland as they shot 19-30 on the night. Tyreke Johnson led the way for Lakeland as he scored 25 points while Montre Edwards added 16 points.
 
Bowe Bytes: "Even with an experienced core tonight we were unable to finish the game as we wanted. This is a great experience and lesson for our team on the importance of playing a complete game. We will get back to work tomorrow and get ready for Delta CC in the opening of the TJ tourney."
 
Next up:  The Lakers will host Delta Community College on Friday (11/8) at 6 pm in the annual TJ Memorial Tournament. The other half of the bracket will feature Columbus State vs Erie CC at 2 pm. The losers of both games will play in a consolation game on Saturday (11/9) at 11 am with the championship scheduled for 3 pm. Admittance to all games is free.
