Lakeland men's basketball falls to Genesee CC Cougars
The Lakeland men's basketball team traveled to Batavia, NY on Friday and dropped a 94-89 decision to the Genesee CC Cougars. With the loss, Lakeland's record falls to 2-3 on the season while the Cougars improved to 5-1. Lakeland reversed it's recent trend by playing a strong first 10 minutes of the half playing intense defense and scoring timely baskets. The second half of the game saw both teams making several runs. In total, the game had 8 ties and 5 lead changes with the Cougars having their largest lead (12 points) mid way through the second half. The big difference in the game came down to 3 point shooting as the Cougars scored 45 points on 15-27 shooting from the arc while the Lakers were 2-14. Tyler Bourne led the way for the Cougars scoring 40 points on 16-23 shooting (7-11 from the arc). Lakeland had four players score in double figures. Chris Richardson led the way with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Tyreke Johnson scored 16 points while Jordan McMillian added 12 points. Jonny Bowers pitched in with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Bowe Bytes: "We played well enough to earn the win. We have to minimize the mistakes late in games. We're a young team that is learning a lot. We will continue to work hard and improve. We have another challenge ahead of us as we play a talented Erie CC team tomorrow. Another opportunity for growth."
