Lakeland men's basketball back in the win column
The Lakeland's men's basketball team traveled to Lorain County on Wednesday and came away with a 116-87 victory. Things did not start well for the Lakers as the Commodores came out flying starting the game with a 12-0 run. Lakeland was able to regroup though as they battled back and eventually took a 55-45 lead into the intermission.  Sophomores Tyreke Johnson (14 of his game high 18 points), Allen Sims  (11 of his 13 total points),  and Jonny Bowers (10 of his game high 16 points) led the comeback for the Lakers in the first half. In total, Lakeland would finish with 6 players in double digits as Tyshaun Howard scored 18 points while freshman Jordan McMillian and Javonta Lyons each chipped in 10 points. Julian Jackson added 7 points and 4 assists.

The Lakers controlled the boards throughout the game and finished with a 41-24 advantage. Lakeland also held the advantage in steals (13-8) and had a slight edge in turnovers (18-19).  With the win, Lakeland upped it's record to 3-4 (1-0) while Lorain County drops to 2-4.

Bowe Bytes: "A slow start, but we were able to bounce back and more importantly, we were able to get the conference win. The sophomores did a nice job of regrouping and helped us maintain composure in the first half. As a team we were able to just control the second half  - better play. It's good to get back in the win column - we'll need to bring a solid effort on the road this Saturday."

Next up: The Lakers play the final game of their four game road trip this Saturday as they travel to Hocking College to take on the Hawks in a 3 pm tilt. Lakeland returns home on Tuesday, 11/26, for a 7:30 tip against the Mercyhurst NE Saints.  Admission is free.
