The Lakeland men's basketball team evened their record at 4-4 after traveling to Hocking College and beating the Hawks 88-84 on Saturday. Lakeland upped it's league record to 2-0 with the victory. Stats were not available at the print of this release. This was a battle throughout as Hocking came into the game leading the country in scoring averaging 105 points per game. The Laker's held a 12 point advantage in the first half that was erased by Hocking on a quick surge. Overall in the first half, Lakeland played well defensively but were inconsistent offensively. After not holding the lead, the Lakers were able to battle and held a 45-43 advantage at the half.

 

The second half was a back and forth affair. Lakeland led by as many as 5 and also trailed by 2 at one point. Mostly the score just stayed within that range. The game was decided in the last few minutes as the Lakers were led by freshman Jordan McMillian's 4 clutch free throws down the stretch and several pivotal blocks by freshman Keith Germain. Freshman Chris Richardson also played well both on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor while sophomore Jonny Bowers had a solid night offensively.

 

Bowe Bytes: "We have played a very tough schedule so far. Our goal this past week was to play well and finish the week evening our record at .500 (4-4). We were able to do that and now our goal is to be 5-4 going into the break. We are looking forward our rematch with Mercyhurst NE on Tuesday."

 

Next up:  Lakeland plays host to Mercyhurst NE on Tuesday (11/26) and then Terra State on Wednesday (12/4). Both games start at 7:30 pm and admission is free.
