Lakers men basketball bounces Commodores

The Lakeland men's basketball team travelled to Lorain County Community College last night and posted a 111-61 decision over the Commodores. The game was moved ahead a day due to the impending weather forecast. With the win, the Lakers record is now 15-0 (6-0). Lakeland continues to be ranked 4th in the country in the latest NJCAA DII men's basketball poll.  The Lakers got off to a great first half start and controlled the game right from the beginning. They took a 49-30 lead at the half after shooting 56% from the field (18-32) and 57% from the arc (4-7). Lakeland controlled the game throughout and had 6 starters score in double figures.

The leading scorer for the Lakers was Marcos Vazquez as he finished with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Chaze Harris had a solid all-around game with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. Keith Germain tallied 15 points and 5 rebounds while Jaidon Lipscomb scored 14 points shooting 4-5 from 3-point land. EJ Hubbert picked up 13 points and Ansy Oulare scored 10 points, collected 9 rebounds, and had a career high 11 assists in the win. Noah Berry also had a strong game adding 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots.

Hunter's Highlight's: "It was a strong team effort. Everyone really contributed and played a part in the win. We have a tough challenge coming up on Saturday; but it'll be good to be back home."

Next up: The Lakers will play host to the Hocking Hawks on Saturday (2/5). The game time is an hour earlier than usual and is slated for 2pm.
