The Lakeland men's basketball team played host to the Edison State Chargers today with a conference championship on the line. Lakeland made this game a no-doubter as they started with a 10-0 run and held a 19-2 advantage early on. Lakeland used an athletic defense and strong interior play to limit the Chargers while adding an aggressive cutting offense mixed with some good shooting to earn the victory, 87-59. With the win, the Lakers finish the regular season with a 21-1 (11-1) record. They also finished as co-champs of the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference. The Lakers were led in the first half by Jaidon Lipscombs 13 points.  Kyle Jackson added 8 points while Keith Germain chipped in 6 points as the Lakers led 40-21 at the break. It was more of the same in the second half for the Lakers. This time they were led by Datrey Long and JR Lumsden as they each scored 10 points. For the game, Lipscomb was the high scorer with 20 points while Long and Jackson each finished with 12 points. Germain and Lumsden each added 10 points to help key the win.

Blake Bluitt, Datrey Long, and Keith Germain were all recognized before the game for finishing up their two-year career at Lakeland.

Hunter's Highlights: "We did a really good job coming out to play today. We did a nice job getting prepared after a really long week - and late bus ride last night. I was pleased with our team effort as we we checked the first leg of our journey to make it to nationals. We will need to put this behind us now though and get ready for Thursday."

Next Up: A coin flip will decide if the Lakers are the #1 or #2 seed in the upcoming tournament. They have already earned a first round bye and will host a semi-final game Thursday evening. The opponent and game time will be determined Tuesday evening.
