Lakers basketball rolls Red Devils at Nationals

In the first game for the Lakers of the 2022 NJCAA basketball tournament, the Lakers kept up their stellar play as they rolled to an 82-61 victory over Allen Community College (KS). With the win, Lakeland improves to 24-1 on the year. The Lakers jumped on the Red Devils early in this game. With the score tied at 4, Landon Tillman nailed a 3-pointer and the Lakers never looked back as they went on a 13-0 run to take a 17-4 lead and effectively put Allen away. The Lakers led 43-25 at the break and were led in the first half by Tillman's 11 points while Kyle Jackson added 9 points. Lakeland continued to roll in the second half and led by 20 points throughout much of the half as they cruised to the victory. The Lakers were led by Kyle Jackson's 19 points as he shot 9-10 from the floor. Landon Tillman and Jaidon Lipscomb each scored 11 points by sinking three 3-pointers apiece. Noah Berry finished with 8 points and 7 rebounds while Chaze Harris and Datrey Long each chipped in 7 points for the win.

Next Up: The Lakers will play the Bulldogs from South Suburban College (IL) in the next round of the tournament tomorrow (Wednesday 3/16). The Bulldogs are the #1 seed in the tournament. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 pm EST.
