Laker men's basketball ready for start of new season

The Lakeland men's basketball team is preparing to kick off the 2023-24 season with their first game on Wednesday, November 1, at Jamestown Community College in New York. The Lakers finished with a 22-6 record last season, were champions of the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference, and fell in the Great Lakes District A semi-finals to host Mott Community College by a score of 82-67. The Lakers have been OCCAC Champions or co-Champions 3 of the past 4 years. They did not win it in 2020-21 when they did not participate due to COVID.

Returning players include: Dondi Harper, Brandon Lane, Ansoumane Oulare, Chris Tackett, and Bishop Thomas.

Incoming freshman include: Lenique Austrie, Sean Conway, Jaidon Dabreo, Scott Donald, Ben Hamilton, Keenan Hughes, Dennis Pettis, Patien Stevenson, Jeremiah Tate, Adam Williams, and Dasjaun Williams.

Lakeland also welcomes transfer students: Alex Benson, Justin Covington, PJ Daniels, Nate Houston, Jareon Mayo, and Mark Wise.

The home opener is scheduled for Saturday, November 11th at 3:00 pm against Erie Community College. Military personnel and Veterans will be recognized on Tuesday, November 28th.
