Big Second Half Lifts Chargers Over Lakers

KIRTLAND, Ohio – The Lakeland Community College men's soccer team was in action today (Oct. 15) as they were defeated by fifth ranked Ancilla College.

Ancilla had the ball in their offensive half for a majority of the first half.  The Chargers were able to rattle off 17 first half shots.  Freshman goalie Angel Alvarez (Las Vegas, Nevada / Rancho High School) kept the Lakers in the match as he made 15 first half saves to keep the game level at 0-0.  Toward the end of the first half play became more physical, as the Chargers were flustered by their inability to score, because of the stellar play from the Lakers defense and Alvarez.

The second half was dominated by Ancilla, as they broke through, and found the back of the net five times in the second half. Each of the Chargers goals were scored by a different player, with Romario Piggott scoring the first goal of the game on a penalty kick. The Lakers battled with the fifth ranked Chargers until the final whistle but fell, 5-0.

Lakeland will be back in action tomorrow (Oct. 16) when they host Jackson Community College with the game set to begin at 1 P.m.
