Hat trick by Williams Batres helps Lakeland beat Cincinnati State, 3-0

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Williams Batres (Cleveland) found himself in scoring positions nearly all game and buried three goals into the net for a hat trick in the Lakers 3-0 victory over Cincinnati State Technical & CC Sunday afternoon.

The win for Lakeland improves its record to 5-5-2 overall and its Region XII record stays at 2-3-1.

Three different players assisted on the Batres goals. Jacob Pereira Granato (Toronto, Ontario), Kobie Gooding-Meade (Toronto, Ontario) and Ugochukwu MacAustin Nneji (Lagos, Nigeria) each added an assist.

Granato made seven saves to earn the shutout victory in goal.

Batres scored his first goal in the 16th minute and then added two more goals in the final 11 minutes.

Lakeland will get back into Region XII play with a road game at Jackson College on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. Jackson is 2-2 in Region XII and Lakeland is just below at 2-3-1.
