Lakers tie with Cuyahoga again, 1-1

PARMA, Ohio – Lakeland men's soccer has now played Cuyahoga Community College twice and there has yet to be a winner in either match as the Lakers again tied with Cuyahoga 1-1 to earn another draw Wednesday afternoon.

Lakeland and Cuyahoga played to a 1-1 tie on Sept. 12 in Kirtland.

With the tie, Lakeland's overall record moves to 5-7-3 and its Region XII record moves to 2-5-2. Cuyahoga's Region XII record moves to 3-4-2 after the tie.

Williams Batres (Cleveland) scored his ninth goal of the season for Lakeland in the ninth minute but that lead did not last much longer after the first half ended. Cuyahoga equalized in the 57th minute to knot the game at 1-1, which is where the score stayed after the final whistle.

Ugochukwu MacAustin Nneji (Lagos, Nigeria) had two shots on goal while Cole Clausen (Conneaut), Josue Gomez-Villegas (Perry) and Mohamed Shukri Hassan (Mandera, Kenya) each had one shot on goal in the tie.

Lakeland will return home to face Schoolcraft College on Friday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m.
