The Lakeland men's soccer team 4-0 (2-0) gained an important 2-1 victory at Jackson Community College today. This had a different twist for the Lakers as they surrendered their first goal of the season which put them behind 1-0 just 8 minutes into the contest. The Lakers were not to be denied though as freshman Tom Worm answered on a nifty goal almost 32 minutes into the half. Souleymane Seck was credited with the assist. Seck then netted a goal of his own from Suhong Jung with 1:30 to go in the half to put the Lakers up 2-1 at the break. The Lakers handled the play throughout the second half by not giving up quality opportunities while still carrying the play. Lakeland outshot the Jets 25-9 and held the advantage in corners 7-3.

Kettani's quotes: " In less than 24 hours between games, with a 3 hour road trip from Ancilla to Jackson; they earned a victory and a well-deserved nights rest. They played hard against Jackson today. You never want to be down early in a match, but they persevered. I have been preaching communication, consistency, and confidence all year. When times get tough, you have to revert to your core values. They did that while being one goal down. To come back with such poise and confidence - it was a great team and coaching moment. We're excited to get home and prepare for a cross-town match-up against Tri-C."

The Lakers will travel to Cuyahoga Community College on Wednesday, September 18th for a key league match-up. Game time is set at 4pm at the Parma Campus.
