The Lakeland men's soccer team hosted a physical Jackson Community College team today and came away with a 5-2 victory. This was a seesaw affair throughout the first half that was knotted at the break. Suhong Jung scored the opening goal for the Lakers on a nice centering pass from Josie Gomez.
Almost 10 minutes into the second half, Tom Worm buried a shot into the low far corner off of a pass from Mikkel Quist. Quist was at it again 7 minutes later as he assisted on Souleymane Seck's first goal of the match for a 3-1 lead. Three minutes later, Jackson cut the lead to 3-2 when they scored on a header off a set piece. Jayden Boateng answered under three minutes later to push the lead back to 2 goals. Seck later finished out the scoring on a nice pass from Boateng.
With the win, the Lakers improve to 7-1 and 5-1 in conference play.
Kettani Quotes: "The boys fought today against a tough conference foe. Playing against such a physical team is never easy. It was a team win. The boys are starting to grow and develop into men. Our belief is team first. Everyone stepped up today and battled the elements."
Next Up: The Lakers return to the pitch on Wednesday, 10/9, when they play host to Cuyahoga Community College back at Lost Nation Sports in Willoughby. Game time is set for 4pm and admission is free.
