Men's soccer upended in Region Finals
The Lakeland men's soccer team, after a thrilling double overtime victory on Saturday, were unable to keep the magic and fell to the Muskegon Jayhawks 3-1 in the Region XII Finals. The Jayhawks started fast in this game jumping out to a 2-0 lead just 5:25 into the game. Lakeland regrouped though and cut the lead to one on a goal by Mikkel Quist from Matt Dobson off of a great set piece. Despite being outshot 11-2 in the first half, Lakeland was confident in the abilities since they only trailed by one. Unfortunately for Lakeland, Muskegon was able to maintain that advantage as they finished the game outshooting the Lakers 28-7. The Jayhawks added an insurance goal a little over 15 minutes into the second half and then salted the game away from there. Jacob Pereira Granato fnished with 19 saves for the Lakers. Lakeland finishes the season with an overall record of 11-4 under first year head coach Amir Kettani.

Kettani's Quotes: "We went down to in the first 5 minutes and that was difficult to overcome. The team did keep battling though and I'm proud of their efforts. The team had a great year overall. I am proud of all of them across the board. I also am thankful to both Dave and Eric (assistants) for all of the work they put in this season."
