Men's soccer tops Red Hawks

The men's soccer team played host to the Lake Michigan Red Hawks today at Laker Field and came away with a 2-1 decision. Lakeland used a dominating first half performance marked with precise passing and solid defense to build a 2-0 lead. Ruach Deng was credited with the first goal as he ripped a deflected shot past the Red Hawks keeper for a 1-0 lead at the 31:50 mark. The Lakers second goal came with some intense pressure from the Lakers as they forced Lake Michigan into a critical error as they scored an own goal. 

The second half was a different story. The Red Hawks brought some early pressure to the Lakers and they cut the lead in half 10 minutes into the period. Lakeland regrouped and found it's footing as they were able to hold the Red Hawks down the rest of the match for the win.

Till Oppermann was credited with 8 saves and each team recorded 2 corner kicks.

Ty's Talk: "We played a very strong first half. Our play dipped in the 2nd half - we had some sloppy plays and missed opportunities. Despite that, we held our ground. This win highlighted the importance of maintaining focus and resilence the entire match. It is a reminder that every moment counts and that teamwork can pull us through even the toughest situations."

Next Up: The Lakers will play host to Jackson College on Wednesday (10/16) at Laker Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
