Lakers softball drops DH to Hawks

The Lakeland softball team, winners of 6 of their last 8, has been on a nice roll. That roll hit a bump today as the Lakers traveled to Hocking College and dropped both ends of a doubleheader by the scores of 15-6 and 12-4. The tone for the day was set in the 1st inning as the Hawks took advantage of a Laker error to take a 4-0 lead. The Hawks would take a 7-0 lead before the Lakers responded in the top of the 3rd inning. Lily Seay led off the ining with a single and later scored on a RBI-double from Carmen Alvarez. With 2 outs, Midaliz Alvarez would hit an RBI-double to make the score 7-2. Hocking would tack a run on in the home half of the 3rd inning before the Lakers climbed back into the game scoring 4 runs in the top of the 4th inning. Reagan Hayes started things by working a walk. Hayes advanced to third on a double from Megan Szczecinski. Lily Seay followed with an RBI-double. Carmen Alvarez then scored Szczecinski with and RBI single. Peyton Trick then knocked in 2 more runs with a double and suddenly the Lakers were in this game, trailing 8-6. Unfortunately, the Hawks answered scoring 2 more in the 4th, and then closing it out in the 5th inning for the win.

Carmen Alvarez collected 2 hits (2B) and 2 RBI's while Lily Seay added 2 hits (2B) and a RBI. Peyton Trick went 1-3 (2B) with 2 RBI's while Midaliz Alvarez picked up a hit (2B) and RBI. Alvarez advanced to second on a Peyton Trick single before scoring on a RBI-double from Midaliz Alvarez. Trick would later score on a RBI-single from Lillyan Agostine. The Hawks answered back scoring 2 in the home half of the 1st and then 4 more in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Astianna Coppes then hit an RBI-single to bring the Lakers within 2 runs at 6-4.
