The second quarter proved pivotal for the Lakers as they started to defend better and make shots while outscoring their opponents by 12 to take a 45-31 lead into the half.

The second half played out much the same as Lakeland used their good energy and speed to run by the Hawks. Lakeland used a pressure defense and a solid inside presence to beat Hocking. Armani Jackson scored 17 points while Gianna Pegoraro pitched in with 16 points. Triniti Lee scored 15 points for the Lakers. Point guard Julie Hajdu had 9 rebounds and 8 assists in the victory. Gardy's Gab: "After a methodical start, the defense and energy got better which opened up better scoring opportunities for the offense. We shot well today. Hocking was a stubborn opponent that played hard. We were able to use our speed in transition and pesky defense to shift the momentum in the 2nd quarter and set the tone for the rest of the game. We are looking to finish strong on Tuesday before having a little break."

Next up:  Lakeland plays host to Mercyhurst NE on Tuesday (11/26) and then Terra State on Wednesday (12/4). Both games start at 5:30 pm and admission is free.
