The Lakeland Lady Lakers were at it again on Saturday as they traveled to Springfield, OH to take on the Clark State Eagles. This game started differently for the Lakers as the typically quick starting Lakers started out slow. That combined with the Eagles torrid early shooting saw the Lakers in a hole at the end of the first quarter, 14-13. The second quarter saw the Lakers right the ship behind 3 3-pointers from Triniti Lee. Her solid shooting triggered the Lakers to go into the half with a 9 point lead at 36-27. The Lakers then extended their defense in the second half to help quicken the pace of the game. When they did, it created more scoring opportunities which they were able to capitalize on. This effort allowed the Lakers to blitz the Eagles 44-17 in the half. With a final of 80-44, the Lakers improved their record to 21-1 and 9-0 in the conference. It was Lakeland's school record 20th straight win. With the loss, Clark State falls to 5-19 overall and 1-9 in the OCCAC.

Lakeland had 5 players finish in double figures. Gianna Pegoraro led all scorers with 18 points. She added 5 assists. Lee fnished the afternoon with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 blocks. Makayla Cooper added 15 points and 7 rebounds and Armani Jackson kicked in 14 points and 15 rebounds. Rayonna Peterson finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds while Julie Hajdu had 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Gardy's Gab: "This was a tough road win for us. It's difficult to ride for so long, get off a bus, and play at a high level. However, that's what good teams do. We need to remain focused on our goals and not become complacent. With B&S coming up, we'll need to focus a bit better moving forward."

Next up: The Lakers play host to the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats on Wednesday, Feb 12, in a special 6:00pm start. Admission is free. Lakeland will then have the weekend off before traveling to Cuyahoga CC next Wednesday, Feb 19, in a 5:30 tip.
