The Lady Lakers traveled to OU-Lancaster on Saturday to play the Sinclair Community College Tartans in the District semi-final. The Lakers wasted no time as they used a dominating 1st half to dispatch of the Tartans by a final score of 83-51. The Lakers played tremendous defense in the first half as they minimized Sinclair's scoring opportunities and had 7 steals in the 1st quarter alone. That helped trigger an unsurmountable 45-19 halftime lead that allowed them to coast to the victory. The defense continued throughout the game as Lakeland forced 23 turnovers. With the win, the Lakers improve to 25-2. The Tartans finish their season at 16-15.

Every Laker scored in the balanced effort today. Rayonna Peterson led the way for the Lady Lakers as she finished with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Makayla Cooper scored 18 points and added 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Julie Hajdu added 10 points and 7 assists while Armani Jackson finished with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals. Gianna Pegoraro's line finished at 8 points, 10 rebound, 6 assists, and 5 steals while Triniti Lee added 9 points.

Gardy's Gab: "We played a nice game today; particularly in the 1st half. We earned a chance to play Edison again. They are a tough team... we'll need to bring our A-game."

Up Next: The Lakers play in the District Finals tomorrow against the Edison State Chargers. A birth to the NJCAA National Tournament is on the line. Game time is at noon at OU-Lancaster. The two teams finished tied for first in the OCCAC this year with each team winning on their home floor.
