The Lady Lakers basketball team traveled to Port Huron, MI on Saturday and came away with a 87-79 victory. With the win, Lakeland improves to 3-0 on the season while St. Clair County falls to 2-1. The Lakers got off to a bit of a slow start early after the long bus ride. However, they were able to quickly rebound and finished the first quarter strong and led 21-17. Elisha Quinn led the way scoring 8 points in the opening period. Quinn continued the pace by scoring 10 points in the second quarter while Arion Brown added 8 points. Shar'Da Williamson chipped in 7 points to give the Lakers a 43-31 edge at the half. From there, Lakeland held the Skippers at bay for the rest of the game as they cruised to the victory.

Quinn finished with a game high 43 points to pace the Lakers and added 5 assists. Williamson finished with 17 points and Brown added 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Gardy's Gab: "We shot the ball really well today. It was tough as we started a little slow and had to make some adjustments on SC4's point guard (Brooklyn). This was a tough road game and a quality win. They are good team that is well coached. I was pleased with our overall effort - everyone really contributed. Elisha (Quinn) had one of the best offensive games from a Lady Laker in a few years. We'll get back at it as we have another game against a traditionally tough team (Jamestown CC) on Wednesday."

Next Up: Next Wednesday (11/17), Lakeland plays host to Jamestown Community College in a 5:30 (W) and 7:30 (M) matchup. The Lakers are teaming with Phi Theta Kappa during both the women's and men's game and are collecting donations for the Lakeland Cares Cupboard. The Cupboard helps students in need anonymously. It is asked that spectators consider donating canned goods, boxed goods, and/or personal hygiene products. The first 100 people to donate at the games will receive a free Lakers cup.
