The Lady Lakers played host to the Lorain County Commodores and rolled to a convincing 86-53 victory. With the win, the Lakers improved to 5-3 on the season while also garnering their first conference win (1-0).  Lakeland started off fast in the first few minutes of the game and had a commanding 23-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. From there, they never looked back and coasted to the victory. All nine players scored for the Lakers in a strong team effort. The Lakers continued to look for the extra pass and worked well together throughout the game. Elisha Quinn led the way offensively for Lakeland scoring 26 points. Shar'Da Williamson followed that with 14 points while Shanya Rhodes added 13 points.

Player's Perspective:

Brandy Smith "We decided as a team to come into the game with a new attitude and more energy. That carried on throughout the game and helped us win."

Delaney Sullivan "We played with a lot of energy. We knew we had to come out strong and get the first conference win. We know Owens will be a tough game and we'll have to come in with the same attitude and energy."

Gardy's Gab: "We came out with a lot of effort and energy. The loss on Thursday actually helped us out today. It allowed us to recalibrate and come out and play hard. This was a good team win."

Next Up: The Lakers have a bye on Wednesday and so will play host to Owens Community College next Saturday (1/15). Tip off is scheduled for 1pm.
