The Lakeland women's basketball team traveled to Ursuline College last night to play the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats. Unfortunately for the Lakers, they struggled in the first half and that led to a 78-65 defeat. With the loss, the Lakers fall to 6-6 (2-3). Elisha Quinn would hit a 3 pointer to start the game, but from there, the Bobcats took the lead and never relinquished it. In the 1st quarter, the Bobcats took advantage of several missed layups and front ends of 1 and 1's by the Lakers to take a 16-10 lead at the end of the quarter. Lakeland shot 4-14 in the first quarter and were 1-4 on taken free throws. The second quarter was more of the same for Lakeland as they shot 7-20 in the quarter. Despite the shooting, Lakeland only trailed by 10 at the half. A strong 3rd quarter was what they needed to get themselves back into this game. The Lakers shot 62% in the 3rd quarter and won the quarter 25-24; however, it was 4 3-pointers by the Bobcats that helped them keep the 9 point advantage.  Lakeland had one more quarter to make a run and cut the lead to 7 with 7:22 to play after a Quinn free throw. Unfortunately, 5 missed lay-ups in a 3 minute span would seal their fate.

Lakeland's Elisha Quinn would lead the way with 18 points. Madison Fueger (13 points and 8 rebounds) and Arion Brown (10 points and 9 rebounds) both contributed well and fell just short of a double-double.

Gardy's Gab: "Tough first half in terms of shooting - overall game really - except for the 3rd quarter. We certainly had our chances, but we just couldn't finish tonight. I was pleased that we battled in the second half more of the way we are capable of.  We have to wash this as we have a tough challenge coming up on the road Saturday."

Next Up: The Lakers will travel to Piqua, OH on Saturday to face the Edison State Chargers in a 1pm tip.
