The Lakeland women's basketball team played host to the Hocking Hawks tonight and came away with a convincing 84-67 victory. With the win, the Lakers record improves to 10-8 (6-5). In what was a quick turn around for the Lakers, they came out firing on all cylinders. The defensive pressure forced the Hawks into many turnovers and helped set the stage for the game. Madison Fueger, Delaney Sullivan, Shar'Da Williamson and Brandy Smith all played key defensive roles early in the game. Offensively, the Lakers shot the ball well and led 21-8 at the end of the first quarter. The Hawks went on a run in the 2nd quarter, cutting the lead to 7 at one point, before the Lakers righted the ship and took a 45-27 lead going into the break.  Elisha Quinn led the way in the first half as she sank six 3-pointers - 3 of them on 3 straight posessions - to key the surge.  Madison Fueger followed that up by scoring 9 of her 17 points in the first half. As has become customary, the Lakers come out of the break playing well. That trend continued as Shar'da Williamson scored 11 of her 16 points in the 3rd quarter. From there, Lakeland coasted to the win.

Elisha Quinn finished with a game high 24 points. Destiny Khay and Brandy Smith each finished with 8 points while Hailey Davis scored 6 points and Delaney Sullivan chipped in 5 points.

Gardy's Gab: "At home, we have played like a much better team. Tonight we moved the ball well and shot well also. That really helped set the tone and allowed us to open up the game. We also played well defensively tonight which was key. We have to have a short memory though as we have another game on Wednesday.  We'll get back at it and be ready."

Next Up: The Lady Lakers will play host to the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats on Wednesday evening.  The tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
