The Lady Lakers closed out their regular season today by hosting the undefeated Edison State Chargers. The Lakers fell in a highly contested game by a score of 86-78. With the loss, the Lakers close out the regular season with an 11-10 (7-7) record. They are scheuled to host a to be determined opponent on Tuesday evening. This game was a classic seesaw battle as both teams played with a lot of energy and shot the ball extremely well. Elisha Quinn scored 7 points and Destiny Kyah added 5 points in the opening quarter to pace the Lakers. At the end of the quarter, the score had the Chargers in the lead at 20-18. The second quarter was filled with more back and forth play as the largest lead was 5 points; attained by the Lakers on a last second Hailey Davis 3-ponter to close the half. Quinn added 14 points in the 2nd quarter as the Lakers went into the break with a 46-41 lead. The 3rd quarter continued in the same fashion as the Chargers would make a run to go ahead by a basket and the Lakers would answer right back to maintain the edge. Madison Fueger's 8 points led the way in the period for the Lakers and they led 64-60 after 3 quarters. Unfortunately, their luck would fail late. Lakeland still had a 4 point advantage with under 3 minutes to play, but credit he Charger's defense as they forced some untimely turnovers. Finally, with the score tied at 77 with 1:50 to play, the Chargers broke through with a couple of buckets after some Lakeland miscues. Lakeland, playing it's 3rd game in 5 days, had outstanding play offensively throughout the game. They also played very good defense in giving Edison all they could handle in the game.

Every Laker scored in this matchup. Lakeland was led by Quinn's game high 32 points while Shar'Da Williamson and Fueger each finished with 12 points.

Destiny Khay and Elisha Quinn were recognized as sophomores finishing out their two-year careers with the Lakers.

Gardy's Gab: "We came out and competed. This is what we wanted to do. We got better every game this week and really improved throughout the season. Unfortunately, we just couldn't finish it out. Credit Edison as they are a very good team that is well coached. We need to hit the reset button quickly now and get ready for Tuesday."

Next Up: Based on the tie-break rules, Lakeland will be seeded 4th in the upcoming tournament. That earns them a home game Tuesday evening. The opponent will be determined Monday morning.
