The Lady Lakers kicked off post-season play by hosting the Clark State Eagles tonight. Lakeland used a methodical approach as they rolled to a 62-44 victory over Clark State. With the win, the Lakers improve to 12-10 on the season and have advanced to the semi-finals of the OCCAC Tournament on Thursday night. Lakeland played this game with a very patient tempo as they used the much of the clock on many sets. They also played a consistent defense throughout as they were able to keep the Eagles at bay most of the evening. This was a good approach as the Lakers have played 5 games in the past 8 days. Every Laker that played scored in this matchup. Lakeland was paced by Shar'Da Williamson's 6 points in the first quarter as they took a 16-11 lead to end the frame. Brandy Smith led the charge in the second quarter as she scored 9 points to help Lakeland maintain a comfortable 31-24 lead at the break. As they have done almost all season, Lakeland separated itself from the competition in the 3rd quarter. Williamson led the way in this quarter scoring 9 points - including a 7-8 stretch from the free throw line - which allowed Lakeland to take a commanding 51-34 lead. From there, Lakeland coasted to the victory.

The Lakers were led by game high scorer Shar'Da Williamson's 23 points. Brandy Smith finished with 15 points while Madison Fueger tallied 11 points in the Lakers win.

Gardy's Gab: "I was pleased that we were able to follow the game plan. Any win this time of year is a good win. We are happy to be moving on to the next round. We have a nice challenge for ourselves on Thursday. We look forward to the opportunity."

Next Up: The Lady Lakers will play the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats on Thursday at Laker gym in the semi-finals of the OCCAC tournament. Due to seeding, Lakeland will be the visitors in this matchup and so will wear their road uni's. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
