Perry nets OCCAC Player of the Week award

Lakeland women’s basketball sophomore Lauren Perry was named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 1. Perry is now a three-time honoree after taking home back-to-back awards during her freshman season.

Perry’s latest laurel comes after compiling 23 points, six rebounds, five assists, five steals and two blocks in just 27 minutes during a 70-31 win at Erie Community College on Saturday, Jan. 6. The Sylvania, Ohio, native, connected on 11-of-19 shots from the field, including 1-of-3 from long range.

Perry is in the midst of a standout 2023-24 campaign. The sophomore currently leads the OCCAC in scoring average, averaging 18.4 points per game. She also leads the conference with 51 steals, and ranks among the top five in blocks (14), field goals (67), field goal percentage (46.5) and three-point percentage (32.5).

The Lakers will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 13, at home against Jamestown Community College. The game is slated for a 3 p.m. start time.
