Lakers women’s soccer rolls Commodores

The Lakeland women's soccer team traveled to Lorain County CC tonight and came away with a 2-0 victory.  With the non-league win, Lakeland improves its record to 10-2 overall and 6-2 in league play. The score was tied 0-0 at the half in a game the Lakers seemed to control. In the second half, Kyley Molea finally got Lakeland on the board as she converted on a nice through pass from Elena Logan. Lakeland continued to carry the play, though both teams had some chances. Lakeland's defense continued to frustrate and stop the Commodores offense.  With 10 minutes to play, Briana Paulett, iced the game on a nice assist from Molea. Erica Wayts made four saves for the Lakers in picking up her 4th shutout of the season.

Sivik's Sentiments: "The weather was pretty interesting, but my players were able to secure the win. Our defense played a stellar game."

Next Up:  The Lakers finish up the regular season with two conference games. On Sunday, 10/20, Lakeland plays host to Muskegon CC at noon. Next Friday, 10/25, Lakeland will host Kellogg CC in its final regular season match of the season at 3pm. This is the make-up from the originally scheduled August 24th game.  Both games will be held at Lost Nation Sports Park in Willoughby and admission is free.
