The Lakeland women's soccer team kicked off their season today by traveling to Lorain County to face the Commodores in non-league action. The Lakers fell to the Commodores by a score of 3-0. The teams battled back and forth early on before Lorain took at 1-0 lead at the 19 minute mark. The goal was a low hard shot that went in just off goalkeeper Zaria Friedrichsen's hand. The Lakers almost tied it minutes later on a nice shot on goal from Lily Schiemann. The scored remained 1-0 at the half. In the second half, Friedrichsen had a couple of nice save's before the Commodores broke through on a counter attack. Later, with the Lakers pressing for a goal, they gave up a 1v1 for the final goal.
Lakeland was outshot 8-4 and Zaria Friedrichson finished with 5 saves in the defeat.
