The Lakeland women's soccer team traveled to Delta Community College today to face off against the Pioneers. Unfortunately for the Lakers, the NJCAA's top-ranked Pioneeers came out with a vengence and eventually beat the Lakers 13-0. Despite the score, the Lakers did play hard and were successful stringing passes together; but in the end, they were not able to get thru against the home team. The closest the Lakers came was when Ryley Woodworth was awarded a penalty kick. Unortunately, the Lakers did not convert as the shot rang off the crossbar.
Stats were not available at time of print.
Players of the Game: Ryley Woodworth, Brooke Callahan, and Lily Schiemann.
Mallon's Mentions: "It was a great learning experience playing a team that was a national finalist last year and the top ranked team again this year. Delta is a class act all-around. I was pleased with our effort as our team did a good job stringing some passes together - we just were unable to convert."
Next Up: On Wednesday (10/9), the Lakers will travel to Owens Community College to face off against the Express in a 4:00 pm match.
