For the Lakeland volleyball team, the third time around did not prove to be the charm. After defeating the Triceratops in two close matches earlier this season, the Lakers found themselves on the other side of the column with a 3-1 defeat to Cuyahoga. The game scores were 25-15, 14-25, 24-26, 22-25. With the loss, the Lakers dropped to 4-12 and 2-6 in conference play.  Lakeland continues to be a bit inconsistent in their play as they were coming off a stretch where they had won 2 of 3 and were starting to play their best volleyball of the season. Charriel Bourns led the way with 17 kills and 3 blocks. Jessie Ceboll contributed 11 kills and 5 blocks, Derria Grant had 9 kills and 8 digs,  and Asiana Settles finished with 6 kills and 10 digs. Sarah Miozzi kicked in with 10 digs and 7 blocks while Stephanie Chait had 3 kills and 9 blocks on the night. Brook Burrington led the team with 28 digs while Abby Carlson finished with 11 digs throughout the match.

Miozzi Mentions: "We had a minor setback as we lost to a team that we have beaten twice before. We might have come in a little overconfident, learned a good lesson for future matches. Once Tri-C got the momentum it was hard to get it back. We will work hard at practice to keep getting better."

Up Next: The Lakers are off this weekend before hitting the road for two games next week.  On Wednesday, the Lakers travel to Owens to take on the nationally ranked Express before heading to Terra on Friday to play the Titans. Both matches begin at 6:00 pm.
