Lakers fall to Express

Lakers fall to Express

The Lady Lakers volleyball team traveled to Toledo last night to take on the nationally ranked Owens Express. Unfortunately, the match turned into a buzz saw as Lakeland fell 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-15).The Express poured it on early and often as Lakeland was unable to provide much of an attack throughout the match.  The effort level was still there, but not the execution. Abigail Tuttle was a bright spot for the Lakers  as she stepped in for games 2 and 3 and played extremely well at the net. With the loss, Lakeland's record fell to 4-12 (2-6).

Miozzi Mentions: "It was just a tough night for the Lakers. We did not play our best and Owens is a good team – that's a tough combination to battle through. Despite the on court struggles last night, I was pleased that we had some leadership from Char Bourns in trying to keep the team up, motivated and playing hard. I was also very pleased with the way Tuttle stepped in and played.  Hopefully she and the team continue to work hard and improve."

Next up:  The team continues to be on the road this Friday as they travel to Terra State to take on the Tartans at 6 pm. Next Wednesday, October 9, Lakeland will return home and play host to Lorain County CC at 6 pm.  Games are free to the general public.
