Lakers volleyball splits with Hawks

The Lakeland volleyball team played host to the Hocking College Hawks yesterday and came away with a split. With the split, the Lakers record stands at 1-4 (1-1). In the first match, the Lakers overcame a tough opening game start to defeat Hocking 20-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-19. Stat leaders for Lakeland in the first match were Arion Brown and Allison Seames with 3 kills each. Adrienne DiPierro had 5 assists while Mia Eckliff scored 5 digs. DiPerro has worked hard on her setting and the efforts have begun to pay off for the Lakers. The second match wasn't as kind to Lakeland as they lost three staright tight matches 20-25, 19-25, and 22-25. Standouts for the Lakers also include Kelly Ponzani who's overall play was excellent throughout the day. Her strong efforts really helped keep the team together. Anna Lewis also played well throughout the day helping the Lakers earn the split.

Miozzi Mentions: "We picked up our first win today, so obviously everyone was very excited. The first match was a real team effort. In the second match, Hocking was able to take advantage of us a bit with their height. We got a little frustrated with that; we'll get back at it and work on some adjustments."

Next up: The Lakers hit the road on Wednesday as they travel to Lorain County Community College for a 6:00pm match.
