The Lakeland volleyball team traveled to Springfield, Ohio today to face off against the Clark State Eagles. In a tightly contested match, the Lakers would eventually fall 3-0 (21-25, 11-25, 20-25). The Lakers had opportunites to win 2 of the 3 sets today, but just could not get over the bar. Each set was marked with unforced errors at critical times as the Lakers fell against the Eagles.  Coach Watts commented, "Though we didn't win the match, I was really pleased with our effort and attitude today. We played more free today and I believe that will help us in the future."

Sydney Park led Lakeland with 7 kills while Alyssa Lino and Estella Dotson each recorded 5 kills. Dotson also added 3 aces and 3 digs. Samantha Winter picked up 18 assists while Zoe Babnik led the team with 10 digs. Rebecca Ferrell added 4 digs in the Lakers defeat.

Players of the Game: Samantha Winter - she continues to hustle all over the court putting up sets to ensure great kills

Estella Dotson - she had a very good game both offensively and defensively - really great effort today

Watts' Word:  "We have a solid group of players. They work extremely hard and had very positive energy today. If we can play more free we hopefully can lessen the unforced errors. This will put us in a better position to win. They are really good players and even better people. We'll keep working to improve and I know they will continue to give great effort. We'll get back at it over the next couple of days and get ready for a very competitive game on Wednesday."

Next Up: The Lakers play host to Lorain Community College on Wednesday (10/9) at 6:00 pm in Laker Gym.
