Baseball drops pair to Cardinals

The Lakers continued their trip in Maryland today and dropped a doubleheader to CCBC Catonsville by the scores of 11-1 and 4-2. Seena Amani started game one for the Lakers and took the loss as he surrendered 7 runs on 5 hits over 3.1 innings.  Stephen Osowski relieved and hurled 2.1 innings giving up 4 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits. The Lakers managed 7 hits against the Cardinals. Rafael Nakandakari Alves led the way collecting two hits including a home run to account for the Lakers lone run. Kyle Zaluski finished game 1 going 2-3 while Cody Hejduk went 1-2 with a double. Seth Cervello and Andhris Martinez both picked up a hit for the Lakers in the loss.

The Lakers turned it around in game 2 before suffering a devastating loss. The Lakers built a 1-0 lead when Kyle Zaluski connected for a home run in the second inning. In the 4th inning, the Lakers extended their lead to 2-0 after Zaluski singled and stole second base. He later scored on a single by Cody Crawford. The Lakers would surrender a run in the bottom of the 4th inning and take a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the 7th inning. Unfortunately for the Lakers, the Cardinals would score 3 runs to win the game on a two-out walk-off home run after a walk and a HBP put two runners on base. Abe Bayus started on the mound and pitched 5 innings of 1 run ball on 3 hits. Owen Mansfield took the tough-luck loss allowing 3 runs in 1.2 innings. Kyle Zaluski finished the game going 3-3 while Cody Crawford went 2-3. Austin Heeter went 1-3 (double) while Joey Elly finished 1-3 in the game.
