Lakers baseball falls to Titans

The Lakeland baseball team traveled to Sandusky, Ohio, Tuesday to play Terra State in a non-league matchup. In game 1, the Lakers fell by a score of 8-5. In the top of the first inning, Lakeland took advantage of 6 walks from Titan pitchers to jump out to a 4-0 lead. They added another run in the top of the 2nd inning to make the score 5-0. That run was scored by Rafael Nakandakari Alves after he got things going with a single. Kyle Zaluski followed with a single before Alves scored on a Stephen Osowski hard hit ball that the Titan first baseman could not handle. The Lakers looked like they were going to roll until the Titans answered with 4 runs in the 3rd inning and 3 more in the 4th inning to take a lead they would not relinquish. The Lakers issued 8 walks of their own to help fuel the Titan win. Stephen Osowski went 2-3 with an RBI and Kyle Zaluski went 2-3 with a run scored in game 1. Seth Cervello, Caden Gopalakrishna, and Rafael Nakandakari Alves each picked up a hit for the Lakers in the loss. Stephen Osowski took the loss as he pitched 4 innings and allowed 7 runs on 5 hits. Riley Wallace relieved and threw 2 innings allowing 1 run on 1 hit.

Game 2 stats were not submitted prior to printing of release.
