Baseball falls in opening day doubleheader

The Lakeland baseball team kicked off the season with a doubleheader in Lakeland, Florida today and they fell in both ends of a doubleheeader. In game 1, The Lakers dropped a 5-0 decision to Century College. Seena Amani made the start for the Lakers and pitched 4 innings allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 3 batters. Stephen Osowski relieved and threw 3 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 4 hits while striking out 4 batters. Jose Fichera went 2-3 with a double while Seth Cervello also picked up 2 hits. Rafael Nakandakari doubled for the Lakers while Brayden Fellouzis, Ibrahim Marrero, and Alarik Sierra each picked up a hit in the defeat.

In game 2, the Lakers dropped an 11-1 decision to the Waubonsee Chiefs. The Lakers run was scored when Seth Cervello singled and later scored on a Rafael Nakandakari RBI-single. Cervello would finish the game 3-3 while Brayden Fellouzis went 2-3. Alarik Sirra also singled in the game for the Lakers. Lucas Nichols started and took the loss on the mound for the Lakers. Aiden Limturi relieved and pitched 2.1 innings allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 2 batters.

Next Up:  The Lakers have another doubleheader tomorrow when they face off against Oakton Community College and Herkimer College in Lakeland, Florida.
