Lakers baseball drops pair to Bobcats

The Lakers played host to the Bryant & Stratton Bocats today and lost two hard fought games by the scores of 12-8 and 9-7. In game 1, the Lakers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Alarik Sierra got the Lakers going with a leadoff walk and then advanced to second on a stolen base before moving to 3rd on a passed ball. Seth Cervello then walked and stole second base. Sierra later scored on a sac fly from Jose Fichera. Cervello later scored on a Connor Wilt hit that was misplayed by the Bobcats. The Bobcats would climb back into the game scoring 7 runs over the next 3 innings. Trailing 7-2 in the bottom of the 4th inning, the Lakers battled back scoring 4 runs to close the gap to 7-6. Lakeland took advantage of two Bobcat errors to score the first run after both Connor Wilt and Rafael Nakandakari reached on errors. After a Brayden Fellouzis single, Ray Cowen would hit an RBI-single before Alarik Sierra plated two more runs on a single. The Bobcats scored 5 runs to put the game away in the top of the 6th as they combined a couple of hits, a hit batter, and a couple of Laker errors. The Lakers scored 2 runs in the home half, but unfortunately, were unable to get any closer. In the 6th inning, Jhonuel Dimas walked and went to 3rd base on an Alarik Sierra single. Dimas would score on a wild pitch. Sierra would later score on a RBI-double from Estevan Ruiz.

Alarik Sierra finished with a pair of hits and 2 RBI's while Brayden Fellouzis collected 2 hits. Ray Cowen and Estevan Ruiz (2B) picked up a hit and RBI while Jose Fichera added an RBI. Jackson Smith took the loss as he started and threw 3 innings allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits while striking out 5 batters. Riley Wallace relieved and went 4 innings allowing 6 runs (3 earned) while scattering 4 hits.

Game 2 was a heart-breaking game for the Lakers as they jumped out to an early lead before falling late. After allowing 2 runs to the Bobats in the top of the 1st inning, the Lakers picked up a run in the home half of the inning. Seth Cervello walked and advanced on a single from Rafael Nakandakari. Cervello would later score on a RBI-single from Jose Fichera. Lakeland would take the lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning by scoring 3 runs. Brayden Fellouzis and Ray Cowen would both walk to start the inning. Jhonuel Dimas sac bunted to advance the runners. Alarik Sierra plated Fellouzis with a sac fly. Seth Cervello and Rafael Nakandakari would both follow with RBI-singles. The Lakers would score 3 more times in the bottom of the 3rd inning to take a 7-2 lead. Key hits in the inning were a Sierra RBI fielder's choice and a RBI-single from Jose Fichera. Unfortunately for the Lakers, they would surrender the lead late as the Bobcats took advantage of several walks and a couple of errors to take the game.

Jose Fichera collected 3 hits and 2 RBI's while Seth Cervello picked up 2 hits and an RBI. Rafael Nakandakari finished with 2 hits and an RBI while Jhonuel Dimas had a hit and RBI. Seena Amani started and went 4.1 innings allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits while striking out 5 batters. Stephen Osowski relieved and pitched 1.2 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 1 hit. Aiden Limtury took the loss pitching 1 inning and allowing 2 earned runs on 3 hits.  

Next Up: The Lakers will travel to Toledo on Tuesday to face the Owens Express in an OCCAC doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
