Lakelands men's basketball falls to Niagara

The Lakeland men's basketball team played host to Niagara County tonight and dropped a tough 77-55 game to the Thunderwolves. With the loss, the Lakers record now stands at 5-2. It was a tough night for the Lakers as they struggled from the field offensively early while also committing several turnovers. That combination put the Lakers in an early 7 point deficit that they were just never able to overcome. Tonight, every time the Lakers would put a couple of buckets together, they would follow it up with miscues that the Thunderwolves capitalized on. With 2:15 to play in the first half, the Lakers trailed by 18, 37-19. They were able to go on a little run to close the gap to 37-25 at the half which gave their fans hope of a strong second half. Unfortunately, Niagara converted on the first 4 points of the second half to increase their lead back to 16 and Lakeland was unable to counter.  The daggers fired all game from Niagara were the 7 three's they connected on that kept the Lakers at bay. Lakeland was just never able to get into a good offensive flow. Additionally, the Lakers finished the night shooting 60% (12-20) from the free throw line.

Jaidon Lipscomb led the Lakers with 22 points while Chris Tackett finished his night with 12 points. Landon Tillman added 7 points for the Lakers while Jevon France chipped in 6 points.

T's Thoughts: "It was a tough night for us. We didn't shoot or defend particularly well and we turned the ball over too much. Tip your cap to Niagara as they came out with a lot of energy and shot the ball well and defended hard. We will learn from this and get ready quickly for a tough game on Saturday."

Next Up: The Lakers play host to the Hocking Hawks on Saturday (12/3) in Laker Gym. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00pm.
