Men's basketball grounded by Hawks

The Lakeland men's basketball team traveled to Hocking College on Saturday to face off against the Hawks. Unfortunately for the Lakers, it appeared the overtime game on Wednesday night coupled with the long trip took the wind from their sails as they fell 76-72 in an OCCAC matchup. With the loss, the Lakers record now stands at 20-5 overall and 12-2 in conference play. This was a back and forth affair as the score was close throughout. Coach Eskridge commented, "We just ran out of gas and struggled to make a jumpshot. I was pleased with our effort though, we played hard, shots just didn't fall today."

In a balanced attack, four Lakers finished in double figures. Elhadji Thiam led the way recording a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jaden Woods finished his afternoon with 16 points and 5 rebounds while Chris Tackett added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Jaidon Lipscomb also had a solid all around game as he finished with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists while Landon Tillman finished with 9 points and 6 assists for the Lakers.

Next Up: The Lakers will have a quick turnaround as they play host to the Owens Express on Monday night (2/20). The game is scheduled to start at 7:30. Sophomores will be recognized prior to the tip.
