The NJCAA's 9th ranked Lakeland Lakers were back in action tonight as they traveled to Owens Community College to take on the Express. The Lakers used a dominating defense to hold the Express to just 16 points in the first half. Despite that, the Lakers only led 26-16 at the break. In the second half, both teams heated up a bit, but the Lakers were never really threatened, as they coasted to the 67-55 win. Lakeland also had a balanced scoring attack as three different players finished in double digits and ten different players scored overall. Adam Williams and Alex Benson led the way with 11 points while Ansoumane Oulare finished his night with 10 points. Jareon Mayo added 9 points while Brandon Lane collected 6 points for Lakeland. PJ Daniels and Justin Covington each chipped in 5 points in the Lakers win.

T's Thoughts: "We came out a little rusty and didn't have our best effort in general after being off so long with the school cancellations. Credit Owens as they played extremely hard and challenged us at the rim. I'm glad we'll be able to get some more practices in before we face them again - we'll work at it and come out with a better effort on Saturday."

Next Up: The Lakers will play the second half of the home and home series when they play host to the Express on Saturday (1/27) in a 1:00 pm tip.
