Lakers men's basketball negates Chargers

The NJCAA's 10th-ranked Lakers traveled to Piqua, Ohio today to face off against the Edison State Chargers.The Lakers wasted no time as they used a suffocating defense to jump out to 19-point lead, 54-35, at halftime. Eight different Lakers scored in the first half. Lakeland freely subbed throughout the second half as they cruised to the 97-76 victory. The Lakers record now stands at 16-2 and 8-1 in conference play. 

Ten different Lakers scored in todays game and three finished in double digits. Jareon Mayo led the way with 29 points. Alex Benson recorded 14 points while Justin Covington added 13 points in the Lakers win. PJ Daniels and Ansoumane Oulare both finished their afternoon with 9 points while Chris Tackett and Keenan Hughes each added 6 points today. For Hughes, the two 3-pointers were his first collegiate points. Bishop Thomas picked up 5 points while Adam Williams chipped in 4 points in the Lakeland win. 

T's Thoughts: "I was pleased with our effort today as we played very good defense all game. We did a nice job sharing the ball and really played super unselfish. Congrats to Keenan who got his first career points today."

Next Up: The Lakers will continue on the road in their next game as they travel to Ursuline College to face off against the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
