Men's soccer drops match at Muskegon

The Lakers men's soccer team traveled to Muskegon Community College on Saturday and dropped a 4-1 decision to the Jayhawks. The Lakers started the match strong as they showed a lot of energy. Unfortunately, miscommunication and some untimely mistakes by the Lakers led the Jayhawks to the win. Muskegon's first goal was scored when the Lakers had a miscommunication that left a Muskegon player open to score on a header along the back post. Their second goal was scored when the Lakeland keeper was beat in a race to a free ball which allowed the Jayhawks to eventually score into an empty net. The third goal was scored on a penalty kick and then the Jayhawks took advantage of another miscommunication as a Jayhawk was left unattended on the back post again. For Lakeland, Adbul Mubarak scored the loan goal as he coverted following a nice effort and shot. Coach Mayer commented, "We controlld the game in terms of possession - we had it more but were unable to convert. Muskegon was able to capitilize on a few of our mistakes and that was the difference."

Next Up: The Lakers next game is scheduled for October 1 when they play host to the Schoolcraft Ocelots. The game is scheduled to start at noon on Laker Field.
